The best popcorn – no oil or sugar added – Skinny Popcorn

I think popcorn has to be one of the best things the human being ever discovered.

One day, amid my 90 pound weight loss, I thought to myself ” I really do miss that delicious movie theater popcorn ” followed by ” but there is actually no way I will eat them again, not after knowing the calories and the crazy amount of sugar on them” – of course, it won’t hurt buying a bucket when you go watch that brand new movie, but it’s not healthy to do so everyday or even every week. So I came around with an idea that saved my life, literally!

I first tried to use a pan, but the popcorn got burnt since I didn’t use any oil. If I had added water, it’d have probably worked. Then I looked over at my microwave and ding! That’s it. You can use as little or as much kernels as you’d like, but I always go with little amounts to avoid kernels that won’t pop or burnt popcorn.

A small amount of corn will expand a lot, so never throw the entire packet in there! I use a glass bowl and cover it up with a bamboo lid that has a couple holes in it – you don’t want to have the popcorn uncovered (guaranteed mess!) or completely covered, they need a little bit of air.

Some people like to add water to the popcorn, I personally don’t and it works out the same. Place the kernels on the bowl, cover and place in the microwave – depending on the microwave, It takes anywhere from 3 minutes to 6 minutes to have everything pop, mine start popping at the 1 minute mark and are finished by the 3 minute mark – Once again, because I use small amounts of corn at a time! You can also use a paper bag. You can check once in a while to make sure they aren’t burning.

These are super good, as they are naturally sweet, so I never add any butter – just the corn. Super easy to make too, and low caloric at 86 calories per 100 grams. I like to bring these with me whenever I go out as they are crunchy up to 3 days if kept in a airtight container.

Enjoy!
