Picture this: You stand in front of the vegan aisle, wondering which brand of plant-based milk to get.
Been there, Done that.
In the beginning, I didn’t know which milk to bring home, afraid of wasting my money and not liking the taste, but the truth here, you have to try and either fail or succeed.
Milbona Vanilla Soy Milk – Lidl’s own brand

I started by this soy milk I got at Lidl (if you live in the US you have Aldi, it’s almost the same). I absolutely loved it but I couldn’t drink it by itself – I used it on my daily iced coffee and certain recipes. It’s one of the cheapest options out there – 89 cents a liter (euro). I usually purchase vanilla flavor, but I have tried plain and chocolate. Chocolate is delicious by itself, even better with cereal. The plain though, I don’t like it.
Milbona it’s Lidl’s brand. They also sell almond and oat milk!
Their prices are affordable! Personally, I like my iced coffee best with this vanilla soy milk. It doesn’t have an overwhelming taste but it’s not the softest, either.
Overall rating: 8/10 – I’d recommend mostly for coffee and recipes that demand plant milk.
Shoyce
Shoyce is my absolute favorite brand. I got to try it when I saw their coconut milk on sale at the supermarket – best decision ever!

Their regular prices, however, are quite high, but not the highest. A liter is usually 1,99 euro, whereas I tend to bulk and buy a lot when they are on sale – I got these for 1,29 each. So far I’ve tried Coconut, Sweetened, and Unsweetened Almond. All three were spot on.
If I were to name my favorite plant milk, it’d be Shoyce’s Coconut milk – it’s the most delicious one I’ve ever tried. I use it on my iced coffee, it makes my recipes bomb and I honestly can’t live without it!
There are no added sugars except on Almond unsweetened. Their tastes are really soft, not overly strong or too sweet.
Overall rating: 10/10 – would buy over and over again!
Alpro
I have some mixed views on Alpro, I must confess. They are the most costly milk I’ve seen, so they must be that good. From Alpro, I’ve tried sweetened almond milk, coconut milk, Roasted Almond, and plain coconut milk. Each is around 2,19 euro! I once again wait for sales and then bulk up.

The first 3, I loved. The roasted almond is my favorite. Recently there was a sale on their Coconut milk, but this one being different. I, of course, took advantage and got 2, just to try.
I opened the carton and poured it into a bowl to eat with some puffed quinoa, to my surprise, it was NOT good. In the packaging, it says it has a fresh coconut taste, no added sugars. I knew it was not going to be sweet, but it tastes like water! It has absolutely no taste to it. Thinking it was a bad batch, I opened the other only to have the same taste. I don’t recommend this specific one!
Overall rating on Alpro: 9/10 – will buy again, especially roasted almond!
Coconut milk rating: a solid 3/10.
That’s it for today! I hope these reviews help someone out there.
